At NAMM 2020, we are delivering a room correction solution that will impact the pro audio industry in the same way it has impacted HiFi and home theater.” “However, as Dirac Live increased in popularity and critical-acclaim, we repeatedly heard from the pro audio community that such a solution was needed in the studio.
“Since 2010, Dirac Live has enabled the world’s finest HiFi and home theater systems to achieve their full potential,” stated Ågren. With the introduction of Dirac Live for Studio, the company is expanding the application of its room correction solution to include studio environments that, according to Dirac Director of Product Management Jakob Ågren, have long been plagued by the acoustical challenges Dirac Live corrects. For nearly a decade, Dirac Live has been the HiFi & home theater market’s reference room correction solution, used by the industry’s most premium brands such as Arcam, Datasat, JBL Synthesis, NAD and StormAudio, among others. UPPSALA, Sweden, JanuSwedish audio pioneer Dirac today announced the introduction of its acclaimed Dirac Live room correction solution for the pro audio market at NAMM 2020. In the included documentation some example use cases are described, but there are limitless options.
You will also need a reliable measurement microphone, such as the UMIK-1.Įxactly how to perform playback on the calibrated system will depend on your choice of VST host. You will also need a multi-channel sound card, an easy way to achieve this is to use the HDMI audio output if your computer has one, and then use any AVR that supports multi-channel audio playback over HDMI.
In order to use the plugin you will need a VST host of some kind, ideally with channel routing capabilities, even if this is not required. For instance a 5.1 system with surround speakers that have a meaningful bass extension can be run as a 2.3 or 2.4 system. It is of course possible to use any additional full range speakers as subwoofers for testing. This beta testing process only supports 2.n system layouts, where n is the number of subwoofers that you want to use. As of now there is no option to run Dirac Live Bass Management natively in any AVR/Processor/Stereo system, the processing will run on your PC. We will supply a VST plugin that supports Dirac Live and our new Bass Management technology. For instance, a 5.1 speaker system with all full range speakers can be used as a 2.3 or 2.4 system for the purpose of this beta testing. Note that additional full range speakers can be used for the purpose of evening out the bass response. Such as miniDSP UMIK-1 or other reliable microphone

If you would like to be a beta tester for the Dirac Live feature “Bass Management”, please sign up in the form below.įor this beta program there is no option to apply room correction or bass management in dedicated hardware, such as an AVR or other external processing unit rather all processing will take place on the PC. You do not have to invest substantial time or break the bank to improve your studio’s. It features Dirac’s patented algorithm to digitally reduce the room impacts and enhance the accuracy of sound reproduction, from timing and frequency response to imaging.
Dirac Live for Studio belongs to the Dirac Live family of technology and software.
